Home Base, Housing Counseling
Some people want or need more than just information.
They need someone to work with, side by side, as they make important decisions about their housing goals. AHC’s Housing Counseling program utilizes the experience and creativity of both the counselor and the participant to accomplish those goals. Housing Counselors can help with:
- Understanding the Asheville Buncombe County housing market.
- Monthly budgeting-figuring out what is an affordable rent
- Understanding rights and responsibilities as a renter in N.C.
- Locating affordable housing and making a plan on how to get it and keep it
- Working with a landlord
- Transportation to search for housing
- Finding financial assistance
A Special Note
AHC counselors will work with anyone who is interested in developing a plan to keep or find safe and affordable housing, regardless of race, gender, handicap, sexual orientation, marital
status or whether or not they have children.
